In an increasingly globalized world, it’s more important than ever that we build strong international partnerships. The more Canadians engage internationally, the more we boost Canada’s reputation as a nation of innovators and a global place to do business.
Did you know that CICan works with partners around the world to strengthen and expand Canada-brand education?
In fact, earlier this year and with support of CanExport and Global Affairs Canada, we coordinated a South Asia trade diversification mission bringing 15 colleges and institutes from across Canada to Kathmandu, Nepal. For Canadian and local institutions, it was an opportunity to connect, explore partnerships, and think about ways to increase student mobility in both directions.
- An increasing trend: According to 2022 data from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, Canadian study permits for Nepalese citizens tripled in 2022.
The mission included a regionally focused business to business meeting session with potential partners from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.
SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals challenges us to work together around the world to increase global capacity to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
