The Mille femmes : Je suis Femme, j’Existe, je Participe Program (One Thousand Women: I am woman, I exist, I participate – FEP) project aims to empower some of the most vulnerable women in Senegal in two areas:
- social and economic development, in particular through access to training leading to formal employment or self-employment; and
- active citizenship in their communities.
The project uses the methodology of the Prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR) and supports the development of training adapted to the needs of women.
This formally recognized training facilitates these women’s access to the job market while strengthening their self-confidence and leadership through rights training, advocacy and awareness-raising activities in the communities mobilizing political, social and economic leaders. The recognition and appreciation of their contributions supports their engagement as full citizens within their communities
