Peter Devlin becomes CICan’s new Board Chair

Ottawa, September 28, 2022 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is pleased to welcome Fanshawe College president Peter Devlin as its new Board Chair.

Peter Devlin has been on CICan’s board of directors since 2019 and president of Fanshawe College in London, Ontario since 2013. Previously, Peter was a decorated member of the Canadian Armed Forces, serving 35 years and retiring at the rank of Lieutenant General. Peter has been involved in many CICan initiatives over the years, including as Chair of CICan’s International Advisory Committee.

Peter will replace out-going Chair Paula Burns, now President and CEO of Langara College in British Columbia but serving on the board while President and CEO of Lethbridge College, representing the region of Alberta. Paula completed two mandates on the board, the last of which ended in June of this year.

Peter Devlin joins Nathalie Vallée, Director General of Collège Ahuntsic in Montréal, who was also elected to serve another term as Vice-Chair of the board. Nathalie has served as Vice-Chair since 2020.

“I feel immense privilege to be taking on the role of Chair of the CICan board,” shares Peter Devlin. “I believe in CICan’s vision and am proud to work with colleagues from across the country to advance our sector’s important work and reach.”

“We are so pleased to have Peter Devlin as the new Board Chair. His enthusiasm and wealth of experience will be essential as we embark in this new board cycle,” added CICan President and CEO, Denise Amyot. “I look forward, not only, to continuing to work alongside Peter and Fanshawe College, but to see what rich legacy he will bring to our board and organization.”
