Ottawa, June 22, 2021 – Judith Morris, President and CEO of Lambton College is this year’s recipient of Colleges and Institutes Canada’s (CICan) Distinguished Service award, recognizing her strong leadership and remarkable contribution to the college system as a whole.
Judith is a passionate and innovative academic leader with more than 30 years of experience working in post-secondary education. For the past eight years, Judith has served as the President & CEO of Lambton College, helping to establish the College as a global leader in research, education and innovation.
“Judith Morris’ career in postsecondary education, spanning over three decades, has been truly inspirational”, noted CICan’s president and CEO, Denise Amyot. “She set a standard for breaking down barriers when she became the first female President of Lambton College and that was only the beginning. Judith continued to break down barriers as she led a small college from rural Ontario to become a national leader in applied research and a popular destination for growing numbers of international students.”
As a leader, Judith Morris is known for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among faculty, staff, and students, and is a vocal champion for equality and accessibility in education. She is also a strong advocate for experiential learning opportunities for students and has been instrumental in linking industry and education through college collaborations with businesses.
The CICan Distinguished Service Award is bestowed by CICan’s Presidents’ Leadership Network, which brings together college presidents and directors general from across Canada, upon one of its members, current or past, in honor of their service and contribution to the college and institute system nationally.
