Dawson College is a large, long-established educational institution within Quebec’s network of CEGEPs that is woven into the fabric of academic life in Montreal. Dawson students, faculty and staff embody a broad spectrum of languages and ethnic origins reflective of the multicultural character of Montreal itself. This diversity greatly enriches all members of the College community by providing a welcoming and stimulating environment in which to learn and work, and where students are prepared to assume their role as productive and responsible citizens of the world. It is today the largest CEGEP in Quebec with more than 8,000 full-time students and 2,500 part-time students enrolled in 26 programs of study. Thousands of students have graduated from Dawson College over the last 37 years. The College is located in downtown Montreal in a historic building on 12 acres of land occupying a full city block. The site of Dawson College was declared a heritage property in 1977.
