Join the award-winning team at the University of Buffalo to be inspired and gain practical and tactical knowledge to build the campus of the future. This session will help demystify “electrification” by providing a pathway to strategically plan for your institution.

We’ll focus on how to develop a dynamic internal and external team of experts to guide you, how to build long-term campus energy strategies, what external funding incentives can be leveraged, and how to advance the implementation of a phased approach that incorporates renewable energy generation into the campus energy portfolio.

Through Ryan McPherson and Tonga Pham’s leadership at the University at Buffalo greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by 33% and their efforts have been recognized as a national model for climate action by Vice President Harris (2022).  In addition, this work has received the Green Power Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Excellence Award, and has been rated #1 in the world (2021) and #1 in the US by the Times Higher Education Impact Assessment among universities taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

Jason Denue has led dozens of high-profile comprehensive electrification and energy system projects across higher education, specifically at R1 institutions including Yale, the Ohio State University, UB and others. Jason’s experience in turn-key energy projects and passion for engineering has made him an expert in developing and leading transformative and cost-effective project concepts.

The workshop will be interactive and registered participants will have an opportunity to submit their questions and challenges in advance. The session will be moderated by Stephanie Fulford, Sustainability Specialist |MNRM] Environmental Stewardship and Campus Renewal, Red River College Polytechnic.
