Nominate

CICan members are encouraged to submit their nominations for the next Leadership Excellence Award for Students. Silver and Bronze recipients will receive a recognition plaque for both the individual recipient and their institution. The Gold Award recipient will be honoured with a $2,000 prize from TD Insurance, a crystal trophy, and a recognition plaque for their institution.

Nominations for the remaining four categories will open in spring 2025. These awards are presented every two years.

Name of person being nominated. This will be used on the CICan showcase and in official communications should the nomination be successful.
The endorsement letter must be signed by the President or Director General of the institution and attached.

    The summary should provide a condensed overview of the key elements of the nomination in no more than 750 characters. The executive summary of gold recipients will be translated and included in the Awards Showcase, on the CICan website.

    Criteria

    Evidence of significant and verifiable impact on the institution, as well as on student life and on the greater community at large. (40 points)

    Evidence that the nominee has made an important contribution through community involvement in developing the institution’s positive image. (25 points)

    Assurance that these leadership skills have been consistently evidenced over no less than 12 months (15 months preferable) and have had a sustainable effect on the institution. (20 points)

    Verifiable evidence that the student’s or students’ grade point average is at or above the mean in the program in which they are registered. Includes a transcript and descriptive summary of awards received, participation in committees, etc. (15 points)
