Help Indigenous and Newcomer youth who are unemployed and not in school to develop the life, essential and career readiness skills they need to overcome barriers to entering the workforce or returning to school.
Co-developed by five CICan members, Skills Compass is a program that offers skills training, wraparound supports, and work placements specifically designed for Newcomer and Indigenous youth (aged 18 to 30) who are not in education, employment or training. To date, it has helped more than 100 young people develop the skills and career readiness they needed to secure employment or pursue further education.
Building on the resources developed and lessons learned during the program’s first phase (2020-23), we are seeking an additional three CICan member institutions to deliver Skills Compass to an additional 33 eligible youth by March 2024.
